A massive protest erupted at Gudlavalleru College of Engineering in Krishna district after a hidden camera was discovered in the washroom of the girls’ hostel. The incident, which came to light on Thursday night, has raised serious concerns about the safety and privacy of female students on campus.

The camera was reportedly found by a student, triggering outrage among the hostel residents. According to students, over 300 videos were allegedly recorded and circulated among the boys’ hostel, prompting hundreds of students to gather in protest, chanting slogans like “we want justice” and demanding strict action against those responsible.

In response to the unrest, police were called to the scene, and a final-year engineering student believed to be involved in placing the camera was detained. The identity of the student has not been disclosed as investigations continue.

Despite the students’ claims, the college administration denied the existence of any hidden cameras in the girls’ hostel. They stated they are fully cooperating with the police investigation and have promised to implement additional security measures on campus to ensure student safety.

Police officials have examined the electronic devices of the accused in the presence of students and college staff but have not found any incriminating evidence so far. The investigation remains ongoing.
