Bhajanlal Sharma has been appointed as the new chief minister of Rajasthan by the Bharatiya Janata Party. This decision was reached during the BJP Legislature Party meeting at the Jaipur office, attended by defence minister Rajnath Singh, national vice president Saroj Pandey, national general secretary Vinod Tawde, Union minister Prahlad Joshi, and the newly elected party MLAs. Following a pivotal legislature party gathering on Tuesday, the declaration was made. Bhajanlal Sharma, a 56-year-old first-time MLA, emerged victorious in the Sanganer constituency during the recent Rajasthan polls. Additionally, he holds the position of state general secretary within the BJP.

Former chief minister Vasundhara Raje, along with Union ministers Arjun Ram Meghwal, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, and Ashwini Vaishnaw, were among the leading contenders for the top position. Originating from Bharatpur, Sharma secured victory in the Sanganer constituency by a margin of 48,081 votes, overcoming the outsider label. His triumph was over Congress’s Pushpendra Bhardwaj. Sharma is recognized for his proximity to both the RSS and the BJP leadership.

Diya Kumari and Prem Chand Bairwa will be the deputy chief ministers of Rajasthan, and Vasudev Devnani will be the speaker.
