The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken over the investigation of the Rameshwaram cafe blasts in Bengaluru. 

Sleuths are now probing the angle of organisations like ISIS and Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen carrying out the attacks. 

They are also scrutinising the history of suspects who have been associated with such organisations. It is also important to note that two people having an association with Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen had been arrested from RT Nagar and Hebbal in Bengaluru. 

NIA visits the spot of occurrence

Sleuths also paid a visit to Rameshwaram cafe and held a mahajar. They also spoke to the staff and extricated important details related to the blasts. 

The blasts

Last Friday, at 1: 07 pm, two blasts ripped the cafe in a span of 10 seconds. Around 50 people were in the cafe, having lunch. Mostly visited by techies, the cafe sees a footfall of around 5000 people on a daily basis. It is suspected that the cafe was targeted precisely for this reason. 

Bolts and nuts recovered 

The police had also recovered 7 bolts and nuts, thereby pointing to the fact that it was an Improvised Explosive Device (IED). Such an attack is carried out so that there is maximum impact inflicted on the people.
