In October 2023, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) initiated the Lake Improvement Works Project as part of their Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) commitment. Focusing on desilting and enhancing Ittgalpura Lake and Sadenahalli Lake, chosen due to severe water stress, with borewell depths between 1000 to 1500 feet, and lack of access to Kaveri River water. The project has successfully removed over 1.20 lakh tons of silt and sand, repurposed for bunds and pathways around the lakes, benefiting 52 farmers who utilized it as topsoil. Nine acres of lake land were reclaimed, facilitating the establishment of stabilization ponds and wetlands, advantageous for local bird and animal populations. Moreover, the lakes' water holding capacity has expanded, potentially benefitting up to 17 acres.
