Hebbal service road to reopen on July 19th

Foundational work on service road complete

Full work would need 18 months to be completed

On July 1st, the Hebbal service road was shut down for the construction of another ramp on the flyover. The road leading from the police station to the city was dug up and hence closed for traffic. The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) had requested for a one-and-a-half month period to finish the pending work. Sachin Ghorpade, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) had however negotiated for a 2-week duration.

The road is currently due to be opened by July 19th. Suresh R, the BDA Assistant Executive Engineer told The Deccan Herald that although the total work would need more than 18 months to complete, the foundational work in 2 spots on the service road has been completed. Other work such as building the side walls would not require the traffic to be diverted. He attributed rain as a factor that was delaying the progress of the work.

The traffic police had done away with a median at the Hebbal flyover to accommodate traffic from the Airport Road. The Hebbal service road had a large concentration of the movement towards the city. There were no alternate paths for the vehicles to take. The shutting down of the road had led to the slowing down of traffic for the last 2 weeks.
