Renukaswamy murder case: A2 Darshan back to police custody while A1 Pavitra Gowda sent to judicial custody

A local court in Bengaluru has extended the police custody of accused actor and A2 Darshan in the Renukaswamy murder case. However, A1 Pavitra Gowda and 6 others have been remanded in judicial custody. It is to be noted that the police did not seek the custody of A1 and the others.

Earlier in the day, the police produced all the 13 accused. SPP Prasanna Kumar, who made his arguments, informed the court that the presence of Darshan, Vinay, Pradosh, Nagaraj, Laxman and Dhanaraj is required as their blood samples have been sent for FSL examination and the police are awaiting the report. 

He also informed that the police need to interrogate them more on the FSL report and hence their custody is required. 

In all, of the 13 accused, 7 have been sent to judicial custody and 6 back to police custody. 

The case

Darshan, Pavitra Gowda and the other accused have been accused of kidnap and murder of Renukaswamy, a pharmacy store worker, hailing from Chitradurga. 

After being kidnapped into Bengaluru, he was brutally beaten up in the shed. He was even electrocuted to death. Later, his body was disposed of in a drain. Darshan was arrested on June 11 from Mysuru where he was busy in a gym session by ACP Chandan.
