Rinku scored his maiden T20 half century in 11 innings
Rinku scored 9 fours and 2 sixes
The penultimate boundary among these broke a glass window in the press box
Indian middle order batsman Rinku Singh’s 39-ball 68 must be a delight for Indian fans for several reasons. This is his maiden T20 half century in 11 innings even though his average was already 60 even before this. He has achieved this with a phenomenal strike rate of 191.1. This has also proved his credentials across different conditions and not just on subcontinental pitches.
Before rain interrupted India’s innings three balls before its completion, he scored 9 fours and 2 sixes. The penultimate boundary among these broke a glass window in the press box in Gqebera. While it was a treat for Indian fans, the authorities in the stadium would be concerned with this development. “Take a look at that six, but it has proved to be costly. It broke a glass in the media box. We have a picture of it. That is what it has resulted in,” a broaster said when the game was interrupted. “Yes, and someone in the eastern bay of Gqeberha won’t be too happy with Rinku Singh breaking one of their windows,” former South African pace bowler Dale Steyn replied.
His efforts were however not enough to get India over the line as South Africa managed to register a 5-wicket win with 7 balls to spare.
