Sandalwood actress Vidya who has appeared in various films, often in the role of a parent was found dead in the T.Narasipura Taluk of Mysuru. Her husband is alleged to have killed her. Frequent fights would occur between the two of them over the husband’s status of being unemployed, a divorce petition and property related disputes. A heated argument escalated to the point of murder.

Vidya’s friend who was a witness to the incident revealed details about what had transpired ahead of the unfortunate tragedy. “We travelled overnight to resolve their fight. I was requested to take a video of the incident. 30 minutes of the fight was recorded. The video is currently with the police. Her husband later grabbed her by her hair and struck her head with a hammer. Their misunderstandings were a recurrent theme for many days. The husband’s mother had also planned this murder. The husband’s father escaped from the place as she was being assaulted by the husband and his mother. I pleaded for them to leave her alone but they did not heed to my pleas. She was dragged into a room,” Viday’s friend said in an interaction with the media.
