Shimla: HRTC bus accident leaves 4 dead, 3 injured

In the Jubbal subdivision of Shimla district, a major tragedy occurred when a Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) bus plunged down a mountainside, resulting in four deaths, including that of the driver and conductor of the bus.

A post shared on X by an account named Beats in Brief included horrific videos of the damaged bus.“The accident took place at 6:45 am after the bus overturned on the road. There were five passengers, plus the driver and conductor. Three injured individuals have been admitted to a local hospital in Rohru,” Rohan Chand Thakur, Managing Director of HRTC, stated. 

Two people, identified as Birma Devi and Dhan Shah, residents of Nepal, died on the spot, while the bus driver, Karam Dass, and conductor, Rakesh Sharma, succumbed to their injuries.

The HRTC bus was travelling from the Kudu village of the Jubbal Tehsil to the Giltari village. Further investigation into the cause of the accident and the search for other possible passengers in the accident site is ongoing. Ex-gratia relief has been announced to the family members of the deceased persons by the state administration.
