Elderly woman died without receiving medical attention at hospital

Incident at Tippenahalli Primary Health Center in Yeshavantpur Constituency

Hospital staff failed to administer primary treatment to the woman

A harrowing incident has transpired at a hospital within BBMP limits in Bengaluru as it turned into a scene of neglect even as the family bereaved outside the hospital’s gates.

At the Tippenahalli Primary Health Center in Yeshavantpur Constituency, Bengaluru, a distressing incident unfolded. An elderly woman passed away on-site without receiving crucial medical attention. Following her demise, they were inhumanely moved out of the premises without the provision of a stretcher or an ambulance. The family, left to grieve, laid the deceased on the sidewalk outside the hospital.

This tragic incident, which unfolded on February 27, only surfaced much later. Hailing from Gubbi, a village in Tumkur, the family resided in rented accommodation in Tippenahalli.

The elderly woman had been admitted to a private hospital for respiratory issues. Concerned about mounting bills, they sought aid at the Urban Primary Health Center under BBMP jurisdiction in Tippenahalli around 8 a.m. However, despite waiting until past 9 a.m., the hospital staff failed to administer primary treatment. Frustrated, the family sought help elsewhere, only to encounter further negligence. Subsequently, locals captured the ordeal on video, circulating it on social media platforms.

An investigation into this incident is now underway. When questioned, doctors profess ignorance, casting a stark light on the erosion of humanity within government hospitals meant to serve indigent patients.
