India witnessed a sensational cricketing moment as 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi produced a historic innings in the Under-19 World Cup 2026 final against England, turning criticism into celebration with a breathtaking display of fearless batting.

After struggling for runs in the earlier matches of the tournament and facing heavy trolling on social media, Vaibhav responded in the biggest game of his young career with a stunning counterattack. Playing his first Under-19 World Cup final at just 14, the young prodigy dominated England’s bowling from the very start.

Vaibhav reached his century in just 55 balls, setting the record for the fastest hundred in an Under-19 World Cup final. This knock also became the second fastest century in the history of the Under-19 World Cup, placing him among the finest young talents the tournament has ever seen.

His innings did not stop there. Vaibhav went on to score a remarkable 175 runs off just 80 deliveries, striking at a phenomenal strike rate of 218.75. His power-hitting display included 15 boundaries and 15 towering sixes, meaning 150 of his runs came purely through fours and sixes.

With these 15 sixes, Vaibhav also broke a long-standing world record, becoming the player with the most sixes in a single Under-19 World Cup innings. The previous record of 12 sixes, held by Australia’s Michael Hill, was comfortably surpassed.

Vaibhav also entered elite Indian company by becoming only the third Indian batter to score a century in an Under-19 World Cup final, after Unmukt Chand in 2012 and Manjot Kalra in 2018.

Beyond records, this innings marked a powerful comeback. After a difficult run earlier in the tournament, Vaibhav now stands as the highest run-scorer of the competition, amassing 439 runs in seven innings.
