Injury forces promising young pacer Harshit Rana to miss the entire T20 World Cup, putting Team India’s bowling plans under pressure ahead of the global tournament.
As preparations intensify for the T20 World Cup 2026, Team India has suffered a significant setback. Young pace sensation Harshit Rana has been ruled out of the entire tournament due to injury, according to sources close to the development.
Rana, who impressed with his consistent performances in the IPL and domestic cricket, had emerged as a key member of India’s bowling unit for the mega event. However, a fitness concern picked up during training or practice sessions has prevented him from fully recovering in time, forcing selectors to leave him out of the World Cup squad.

The 22-year-old had earned his national call-up after delivering impactful spells, especially in high-pressure situations. His ability to control runs in the death overs while also picking up crucial wickets had made him a vital part of India’s strategy.
Team management views Rana’s absence as a major blow, particularly given his recent form and growing confidence at the international level. His pace, bounce, and aggressive bowling style were expected to trouble opposition batters on big-match occasions.
With Rana ruled out, attention has now shifted to the standby players list, from which the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is expected to pick a replacement. An experienced pacer or another promising young fast bowler could be drafted into the squad. An official announcement is likely in the coming days.
