Once the hottest ticket in world cricket, the iconic India vs Pakistan clash is facing an unexpected dip in demand as sky-high ticket prices, missing star players, and fan protests hit sales.
The legendary India vs Pakistan clash, long considered the most-watched fixture in world cricket, is facing an unexpected reality check, tickets for the upcoming Asia Cup showdown are still unsold. Traditionally sold out within minutes, this time the demand has seen a sharp dip, leaving organisers worried.
Sky-High Ticket Prices Drive Fans Away
One of the biggest factors blamed for the lack of enthusiasm is the steep increase in ticket prices. Luxury stand tickets offering VIP lounges, unlimited food and beverages have been hiked to ₹2.57 lakh, with Royal Box seats priced at ₹2.30 lakh, Sky Box East tickets at ₹1.67 lakh, Platinum at ₹75,000, Grand Lounge at ₹41,000, and Pavilion West seats at ₹28,000. Doubling ticket prices, fans say, has priced them out of the stadium experience.

Missing Stars, Missing Buzz
Adding to the disappointment is the absence of star players, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will not be featuring in the clash, robbing the encounter of its superstar appeal. Fans have historically thronged stadiums to watch these cricketing icons, and without them, the excitement appears to have dipped.
Pakistan’s Poor Form Hurts the Hype
Pakistan’s recent lacklustre performances have further dampened expectations. The last few Indo-Pak encounters in Asia Cup and World Cup tournaments ended in one-sided victories, leaving little hope for a nail-biting contest. With big names like Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan also missing from the Pakistan squad, the rivalry seems to have lost some of its edge.

Social Media Boycott Movement Grows
Social media sentiment is also playing a major role. Following the recent Pahalgam terror attack, a section of Indian fans have openly called for boycotting cricketing ties with Pakistan, with hashtags urging a ban on the clash trending across platforms.
Will the Fever Return?
Cricket pundits believe that only a thrilling contest in the upcoming league match could reignite the craze and boost ticket sales before the Super 4 stage. If not, the Indo-Pak cricket fever, once considered untouchable, may cool down further, marking a significant shift in fan behaviour.
