India collapses in chase of 124 as South Africa takes a 1-0 lead in the three-match Test series.

South Africa resumed their second innings on the third morning and were bowled out for 153. They had earlier posted 159 in their first innings, giving India a target of 124 to win the match. Despite the modest target, India suffered one of their most unexpected batting failures at home. The innings never settled, beginning with early blows as Yashasvi Jaiswal, Bumrah and Siraj fell without scoring. KL Rahul and Kuldeep Yadav managed just one run each, while vice-captain Rishabh Pant added only two.

Dhruv Jurel’s short stay produced 12 runs, and Washington Sundar offered brief resistance with 31, the highest score of the innings. Jadeja contributed 18 and Axar Patel added 26, but wickets continued to tumble rapidly. India were eventually bowled out for 93, falling 30 runs short of the target.

With this victory, South Africa celebrated a strong start to the series, while India will look to regroup ahead of the next Test.
