  • RCB boosted squad at mini auction
  • All-rounders and pacers add strength
  • Only one specialist spinner remains

After lifting the IPL Season 18 trophy, Royal Challengers Bengaluru have reshaped their squad through the mini auction, building a stronger and deeper team with an eye firmly set on a second championship.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who began a new chapter by winning the IPL Season 18 title, have once again turned the page with a fresh approach at the mini auction. With a clear focus on adding depth and balance, RCB have assembled a squad that looks stronger than ever as they chase their second IPL trophy.

The franchise invested smartly at the mini auction, identifying players who can make an immediate impact. The new signings have added power, flexibility and experience, giving Bengaluru a well-rounded squad across departments.

One of RCB’s biggest strengths this season is the depth in all-rounders. The arrival of Venkatesh Iyer has further boosted the team’s balance. Understanding the importance of all-rounders in T20 cricket, RCB have included as many as nine players who can contribute with both bat and ball, offering multiple options during matches.

RCB also appear well-covered in the fast bowling department. The squad includes a mix of experienced campaigners and promising young pacers, strengthening the overall attack. The presence of local fast bowlers has emerged as a major advantage, while sufficient backup options mean the team has little to worry about even in case of injuries.

Star names such as Tim David, Phil Salt, Romario Shepherd and Josh Hazlewood add immense firepower to the side. Alongside them, players like Jacob Bethell, Jacob Duffy and Nuwan Thushara are being viewed as potential game-changers who can turn matches in RCB’s favour.

With solid resources in batting, bowling and fielding, Bengaluru have covered all key areas. The team management also does not face any confusion over impact players, as there are match-winners available in both batting and bowling roles.

However, one area where RCB may still feel a slight gap is specialist spin bowling. The squad currently has only one specialist spinner, leg-spinner Suyash Sharma. While Krunal Pandya and Swapnil Singh offer spin options, they are primarily all-rounders rather than specialist spinners.

In recent years, RCB often faltered at auctions. But over the last two auctions, the franchise owners have made sharp and well-planned decisions, picking players who fit the team’s needs. This smart recruitment has given RCB a confident and competitive look heading into the new season.
