  • Rohit becomes the highest ODI six-hitter with 352 sixes
  • Leads white-ball cricket with a combined 557 sixes
  • Still active in ODIs and could push record even further

India’s Hitman rewrites history with 352 ODI sixes and strengthens his dominance across white-ball formats.

Rohit Sharma has climbed to the very top of world cricket’s power-hitting charts, becoming the highest six-hitter in the history of One-Day Internationals. The Indian captain overtook Shahid Afridi’s massive tally of 351 sixes during the Ranchi ODI, where a trademark lofted shot off Marco Jansen in the 19.4 over carried him into the record books.

Only three players in cricket history have crossed the 300-sixes mark in ODIs, Rohit Sharma, Shahid Afridi and Chris Gayle. Gayle finished with 331 sixes, Afridi with 351, while Rohit now leads the list with 352 and counting, establishing himself as ODI cricket’s undisputed Sixer Machine.

Rohit’s dominance extends beyond ODIs. In T20 Internationals, despite retiring from the format after the 2024 World Cup, he remains the all-time leader with 205 sixes. Behind him are UAE’s Muhammad Waseem (187), Suryakumar Yadav (154), Nicholas Pooran (149) and Glenn Maxwell (148). No contemporary batter appears close to challenging Rohit’s numbers.

Across white-ball cricket, Rohit has now smashed 557 sixes, a tally far beyond the reach of even the game’s fiercest big-hitters like Chris Gayle, Jos Buttler, AB de Villiers and Brendon McCullum.

Rohit currently plays only ODI cricket and is expected to feature in 35-40 matches before the 2027 World Cup. If he averages even four sixes per match, crossing the 500-sixes mark in ODIs alone is mathematically possible, though extremely challenging. Yet, given his form, fitness and relentless work ethic, the milestone cannot be ruled out.
