Winning the toss, New Zealand captain Sophie Devine chose to bowl first, hoping to make early inroads. But India’s openers had other plans. Mandhana and Rawal stitched together a mammoth 212-run opening partnership that left New Zealand bowlers helpless.
Smriti Mandhana showcased her trademark flair, smashing 10 boundaries and 4 sixes to bring up her century off just 95 balls. She scored a brilliant 109 before being caught out. Pratika Rawal, equally composed and powerful, followed up with a masterful 122 off 134 deliveries, studded with 13 fours and 2 sixes.
Adding to the onslaught, Jemimah Rodrigues played a brisk knock of 76 from 55 balls, featuring 11 boundaries, to help India post a commanding total of 341 for 3 in 49 overs. However, skipper Harmanpreet Kaur once again failed to make an impact with the bat.
