Indian wicketkeeper KL Rahul has plenty of reasons to celebrate. After losing 3  One Day International (ODI) games as a captain during India’s tour to South Africa in 2022, he has obtained revenge by virtue of a 2-1 series victory this time around. He is being cast as next only to former world cup winning captain MS Dhoni in terms of a knack for using the Decision Review System (DRS). 

It is with similar finesse that he had a caught behind appeal that was ruled not out to be overturned after the faintest of edges was captured by the snickometer. This made South African all rounder Wiaan Mulder return to the pavilion and brought South African spinner Keshav Maharaj to the crease with South Africa still needing 120 to win from 100 balls.

The stump mic captured the banter between the two. As soon as Keshav entered the crease, the song “Ram siya ram siya ram jay jay ram” started playing in the stadium. “Keshav Bhai, everytime you come, they play this song,” KL Rahul said. Keshav Maharaj who is known to flaunt his Hindu identity laughed and said “yes.” 

India secured a 78-run victory on the back of Kerala batsman Sanju Smason’s maiden century. The test series between the two teams will commence on 26th December.
