In what comes as a matter of pride, Sudha Murty, chairperson of Infosys Foundation, a non-profit organisation, has been nominated to the Rajya Sabha by the Indian President Droupadi Murmu. 

The Prime Minister put out a tweet in this regard: 

 

Let’s have a look at her achievements: 

  • She is a graduate with a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.
  • She initiated the Infosys Foundation back in 1996. Taking on the roles of chairperson and trustee, she has spearheaded various endeavors focusing on public hygiene, healthcare, education, art and culture, and poverty alleviation. 
  • Through the foundation’s efforts, she has overseen the construction of 2,300 homes in flood-affected regions, establishment of 7,000 school libraries, and the installation of 16,000 toilets. 
  • Moreover, in the same year, Sudha Murthy laid the groundwork for a Public Charitable Trust, which has played a pivotal role in social welfare activities, particularly in providing shelter to those impacted by floods.

Not just philanthropy, but a voracious writer too!
