    Siddaramaiah has criticised the move

Oppn is criticial to Parliament, he added

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah expressed disapproval of the BJP-led Central government’s decision to suspend MPs from both houses of Parliament. He referred to the action as “going beyond dictatorship.”

A total of 141 MPs, with 95 from Lok Sabha and 46 from Rajya Sabha, got suspended after chaos erupted due to the Opposition’s request for a statement from Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the Parliament security breach incident.

During the media interaction after meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Siddaramaiah mentioned that the debate is the root of democracy, and also stated that a good government exists only when there is a strong opposition party. He also mentioned that this was the first time in the parliament’s history that 141 MPs got suspended at once. The suspension of 141 MPs is beyond dictatorship, he added.

He stressed the importance of a ‘positive environment’ to bring attention to the ‘mistakes’ of the government, expressing worry about running the parliament with only MPs from the ruling coalition.
