Sonia Gandhi addressed a presser weeks ahead of LS polls
She tore into Congress over electoral bonds issue
Rahul Gandhi also echoed the same sentiments
Just weeks before the all-important Lok Sabha polls 2024, former Congress chief Sonia Gandhi addressed the media and lambasted the Narendra Modi-led government over several issues.
In the scathing attack, she alleged that the government had made meticulous efforts to cripple the Congress financially. These charges were echoed by Rahul Gandhi.
She said, “The issue we are taking up today is extremely serious. This issue affects not just the Indian National Congress, but our democracy itself, most fundamentally. A systematic effort is underway by the Prime Minister to cripple the Indian National Congress financially. Funds collected from the public are being frozen and money from our accounts is being taken away forcibly.”
It can be recalled that the allegation was nothing but a reference to the incident in which an amount of ₹115 crore was frozen in its bank account. It can also be noted that the tax demand of ₹210 crore as dues and penalty for the financial year 2018-19 is still unmet by the Congress.
