In a remarkable incident, a man from Achamangalam village in Tamil Nadu's Thirupattur district has reported the discovery of a large hole in his farmland, believed to have been created by a meteorite strike.
The farmer, surprised to find the five-foot-deep crater radiating heat, immediately informed local police and district officials. Upon receiving the report, authorities swiftly arrived at the scene to investigate the unusual phenomenon.

As per an Indian Today report, the District Science Officer Ravi confirmed the meteorite impact, stating, "We have collected samples from the pit and the surrounding area. It is a meteorite that has hit the ground. It might have landed here coming in from the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter."
Officials collected samples from the site and dispatched them to laboratories in Vellore and Chennai for preliminary analysis. Ravi added that the samples would also be sent to Ahmedabad for further scientific examination.
The discovery has intrigued both the local community and scientists, drawing attention to the rare event of a meteorite strike in the region.
