India’s first air taxi service launches in 2026, cutting Delhi’s CP–Gurugram commute to 7–12 minutes. These eVTOL taxis will cost ₹2,000–₹3,000
Daily traffic jams in Delhi and NCR may soon become a thing of the past, with the launch of India’s first air taxi service scheduled for 2026. The project, spearheaded by InterGlobe Enterprises (IndiGo’s parent company) in partnership with US-based Archer Aviation, promises to revolutionize urban travel by drastically cutting commute times.
Currently, traveling from Connaught Place (CP) to Gurugram by road can take up to 90 minutes during peak hours. With the air taxi, passengers will be able to cover the same distance in just 7 to 12 minutes, offering a swift alternative to the city’s congested roads.
Key Features
• Aircraft Type: Electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing (eVTOL) vehicles, designed to operate like helicopters but with quieter engines.
• Capacity: Each air taxi will carry one pilot and four passengers.
• Noise & Sustainability: Low noise pollution and eco-friendly electric propulsion.
• Fare: Expected to be ₹2,000–₹3,000 per passenger, comparable to premium cab services such as Uber Black, making it accessible to frequent commuters.

Expansion Plans
The first route will connect Delhi’s Connaught Place to Gurugram. Following its success, the service is expected to expand to Mumbai and Bengaluru, offering relief to commuters in other traffic-heavy metros.
Why It Matters
For millions of office-goers, this innovation could be a game-changer, saving hours otherwise lost in gridlock. Beyond convenience, the air taxi service represents a step toward futuristic urban mobility, bringing the long-imagined concept of ‘flying cars’ closer to reality.
By 2026, Delhi’s skyline may not just be dotted with skyscrapers but also buzzing with air taxis, offering a faster, cleaner, and smarter way to travel.
