Our goal is to contest and win the upcoming 2026 assembly elections: Vijay

Actor Thalapathy Vijay announced the formation of his political party named “Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam.” “In today’s context, I feel the need to further assist the people of Tamil Nadu and the Tamil society who after my parents are responsible for the fame, recognition and everything I have. This has been my intention and desire for a long time. The great poet Valluvar said “Act after due consideration.” Accordingly, a political party led by me was started under the name “Tamilazhaga Vetri Kazhagam” and an application has been made today on behalf of our party to register with the Chief Election Commission of India. Earlier on 25.01.2024 State General Committee and Executive Committee meeting held at Chennai, Party President and Chief Secretariat Executives were elected and Party Constitution and Bylaws were duly approved and accepted by all General Committee members.,” actor Thalapathy Vijay announced.

He seemingly took a dig at both Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). “ ‘Vijay Makkal Iyakkam’ has been doing various welfare schemes, social services and relief assistance to the best of its ability for many years. However, it is impossible for a voluntary organisation alone to bring about complete social, economic and political reforms. On the one hand we have Administrative malpractices and “corrupt political culture”, and on the other hand we have a “divisive political culture” which strives to divide our people on caste and religious lines,” Vijay stated.

The party will channel its efforts for the Tamil Nadu state elections to be held in 2026. “Our goal is to contest and win the upcoming 2026 assembly elections and lead to the fundamental political change that the people want,” Vijay mentioned.
