Commission has not changed the design: ECI

Polling station wise data is given to candidate's agent: ECI

We advise you to exercise caution: ECI

On May 7th, when the third phase of the Lok Sabha Election was underway  INC President Mallikarjn Kharge had shared an internal correspondence with other Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) leaders on X raising doubts on the Election Commission of India (ECI) over the delay in release of voter turnout data. The ECI has now responded to the doubts raised by Mallikarjun Kharge. “The very premise that voter turnout data was released late is devoid of facts as it has always been available on the Voter turnout APP. Commission has not changed the design or periodicity of displaying voter turnout data in any manner. Needless to add that polling station wise data of electors and voters is given to agent of the candidate on the day of poll itself at close of poll. There is no unusual delay than what is required to collect data from large number of polling stations. This is the general time run, which is required for this purpose,” the ECI mentioned in its response.

He was given a firm warning. “The Commission has found your communication placed in public domain in the middle of the ongoing election process as highly undesirable and one that appears designed to create confusion / misdirection / impediment to the conduct of smooth, free and fair elections which is the mandate of ECI under the constitution. Therefore, to uphold the integrity of the election process, in the face of an aggression on the vitals of live conduct of election coming from your statements, Commission categorically rejects your insinuations! allegations and advises you to exercise caution and refrain in making such statements,” the letter added.
