A street dog with a penchant for public transportation has captured the imagination of Istanbul. He has made a mark for himself , as he embarks on daily journeys spanning up to 30 kilometers using the city’s ferries, trams, and subways.

It can be recalled that it was the municipal officials who first took notice of Boji when they observed him regularly commuting on various modes of transportation. Intrigued by his travels, they even held a behavioral study to understand his interactions and movements. Despite lacking a clear purpose, Boji’s demeanor remains exemplary—he patiently waits for passengers to disembark before boarding, adhering to transit norms with remarkable etiquette.

Boji’s integration into daily city life goes beyond his use of public transport; passengers describe him as quiet and well-behaved, embodying the spirit of a polite traveler. His fame has led to the creation of social media accounts, where he advocates for responsible commuting and shares his adventures with tens of thousands of followers.

While municipal workers ensured Boji’s well-being by providing vaccinations and a GPS tracker, businessman Ömer Koç’s adoption of Boji in 2022 marked a heartwarming turn of events. Despite finding a permanent home, Boji’s love for travel persists, recently spotted exploring London’s streets with his owner. Boji’s unique behavior serves as a testament to Istanbul’s inclusive spirit, showcasing how a wandering spirit can find acceptance and love within a bustling metropolis.
