The suspected shooter was later confirmed dead from what appeared to be a self‑critical wounds. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) emphasized that the situation was rapidly evolving and required coordinated efforts from first responders, school staff, and the community.

The RCMP confirmed that there are no other suspects and no ongoing threat to the public. The active shooter alert issued earlier in the day was cancelled by evening. Investigators are now focused on piecing together the circumstances surrounding the attack, including the connection between the school and the residence where additional victims were found.

The shooting was first reported at 1:20 pm, leading to a Police Initiated Public Alert (PIPA) that advised residents to remain indoors. The alert remained in place until 5:45 pm, when police confirmed the suspect was deceased and the immediate danger had passed.
