Bengaluru Central Jail is once again under fire following the emergence of videos showing inmates partying with liquor and snacks inside the prison. The footage surfaced just hours after officials were reprimanded for allegedly providing VVIP treatment to certain inmates.

The latest visuals depict disposable glasses filled with alcohol, cut fruits, and fried peanuts—suggesting a well-organized gathering. In one clip, four liquor bottles are neatly arranged while inmates dance to the sound of utensils being banged, creating a makeshift rhythm. These incidents have intensified concerns over the prison’s security protocols.

Another inmate, Umesh Reddy—convicted in multiple rape and murder cases—was caught using two smartphones and a keypad mobile, with a television visible in his barracks. His death sentence was commuted to 30 years in 2022 after a plea for clemency, though he was later deemed medically fit.

Images also surfaced of Tarun Raju, linked to a gold smuggling case, using a phone and cooking inside the jail. Raju is believed to have supplied gold to the daughter of an IPS officer.

In response, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has promised action, while the Prisons Department has launched an inquiry. Karnataka’s Home Minister has also vowed strict measures against negligent jail staff.
