In a harrowing incident that has sent shockwaves through Uttar Pradesh’s Sitapur district, six members of a family were discovered dead in their home in Palapur village. The grisly scene unfolded on Friday, leaving the community reeling in disbelief.

According to authorities, the perpetrator, identified as Anurag Singh, 45, allegedly carried out the heinous act before taking his own life. Initial investigations suggest that Singh, believed to be mentally disturbed and grappling with alcoholism, embarked on a rampage within his household.

Reports indicate that Singh shot his 65-year-old mother and bludgeoned his 40-year-old wife to death with a sledgehammer. Tragically, his three children, aged 12, nine, and six, were also victims of his brutality. He callously threw them off the roof of their residence, claiming their innocent lives.

Sitapur Superintendent of Police, Chakresh Mishra, conveyed the gravity of the situation, stating, “Today, police received information from Palapur village that a mentally ill person… has allegedly killed five people of his family before committing suicide.”

As the community grapples with the enormity of the tragedy, authorities have initiated a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. The police, along with the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team, are diligently working to unravel the details behind this horrific act of violence.
