Businessman wanted to contest from Byndoor representing BJP

    CCB officials apprehended Chaitra

Chaitra Kundapura, known as a firebrand activist on social media has been arrested by CCB (Central Crime Branch) officials over allegations of fraud during the early overs of 13th September from Udupi. A complaint was filed by Govinda Babu, an industrialist who has alleged that Rs 5 crore was obtained from him with the promise that he would be allowed to contest the election from Byndoor representing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He had filed a complaint against 89 individuals including Chaitra Kundapura. She allegedly made the other individuals pose as leaders of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). They have allegedly syphoned off lakhs of rupees as a part of this deal. She allegedly convinced Govind Babu that the approval of these leaders of the RSS is important in order to secure the ticket. On 2 occasions, transactions amounting to more than Rs 50 lakh were made in order to achieve this goal.

When Govinda Babu asked for a refund after he did not manage to get the ticket she allegedly informed him that the amount is with an RSS leader who has passed away. This made Govinda Babu suspicious. He eventually learnt that no such leader existed but by then Chaitra had allegedly become unreachable.
