Following the NEET examination paper leak, the Ministry of Education has now decided to cancel the UGC NET 2024 examinations just a day after over 9 lakh candidates appeared for it across 317 cities.

 This decision was announced by The Education Ministry through a post on X in, stating that it acted based on inputs from the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) under the Ministry of Home Affairs. The primary reason for this cancellation is to protect the integrity of the examination, which cannot be compromised. The Ministry also mentioned that fresh examinations will be conducted.

The announcement came as a surprise to many, especially after the recent issues with the NEET examination system. Due to alleged corruption in the NEET examination, the cancellation of the UGC NET exams has further raised concerns.

In response, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge criticized the Modi government in posts on X. They stated, "This is the defeat of the arrogance of the Modi government, due to which they made a despicable attempt to trample the future of the youth."
