AI can play a great role in criminology

Delhi police take help of AI to find out murder accused

They reconstructed face of victim using AI

Artificial Intelligence (AI) can change the very way criminology can work. In its latest exhibition, the Delhi police have used it to crack a murder case.

As per reports, the Delhi police found a corpse under the Geeta Colony flyover in east Delhi. Though the postmortem revealed that the cause of death was strangulation, the police failed to establish any identification of it.

Facing this challenge, the police took the help of AI. They reconstructed the face of the deceased in a digital form.

You may be surprised to know that using the AI, the police generated as many as 500 images. Later, the police stuck these images at strategic locations in Delhi. They even sent these images to different people on Whatsapp groups.

Their plan indeed worked as a man called them up and informed them that it was his elder brother Hitendra. Upon investigation, it was found that Hitendra had gotten into an altercation with three other people who had strangled him over a fight. Later, with the help of a woman, they had even disposed it of. Based on the evidence, the police have arrested the three men and the woman as well.
