    PM Modi would lay the foundational stone on September 23rd

    Floodlights in the stadium would resemble a trishul

The foundation stone for an international cricket stadium would be laid at Varanasi on 23rd September by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.  Ravi Shastri and Sachin Tendulkar are expected to attend the event. 

The stadium would be built in Ganjari, Rajatalab. It would extend over 30 acres. The estimated cost for building the stadium is Rs 450 crore. It would also have a capacity to hold 30,000 people. It is expected that the [project would be complete in 2 years. 

There are other interesting features of the stadium. The media centre of the stadium would be shaped like Lord Shiva’s Damaru (Drum). The floodlights of the stadium would be built to resemble a Trishul (Trident). The entrance of the stadium would be in the shape of a bilva patra (wood apple). The roof of the stadium would look like a crescent moon. All of these are keeping in mind that Varanasi is the spiritual centre for Shiva bhaktas (devotees) across the world. 

“At around 1:30pm, the prime minister will lay the foundation stone of the International Cricket Stadium in Varanasi. At around 3:15pm, the Prime Minister will reach Rudraksh International Cooperation and Convention Centre and will participate in the closing ceremony of Kashi Sansad Sanskritik Mahotsav 2023. He will also inaugurate 16 Atal Awasiya Vidyalaya built across Uttar Pradesh, during the programme,”a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office mentioned.
