An upset father shoots himself with pistol

His sons refused to undergo a haircut

They wanted him to relinquish his drinking habits

In a troubling incident in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, a 45-year-old businessman reportedly shot himself with his licensed pistol in the presence of his family members.

The reason behind this act is rather strange. There was purportedly a disagreement with his teenage sons, Shivam, aged 15, and Sundaram, aged 12, who refused to get haircuts unless their father ceased consuming alcohol.

Identified as Shiv Prakash Singh from the Mirza Murad area, the man sustained a severe gunshot wound to the right temple. He was swiftly transported to a hospital for urgent medical treatment, with doctors categorizing his condition as critical, according to police sources.

Police officers have confirmed that at the time of the incident, the father was not in a state of intoxication. Authorities suspect that the businessman, who has been in possession of a firearm license since 2004 and operates a transportation business, acted impulsively in a fit of rage following the dispute with his sons.

Reportedly, on the morning of Holi festivities, Shiv Prakash instructed his sons to visit a nearby barber for haircuts before departing to partake in the celebrations with his friends. Upon his return, he was dismayed to find that his sons had disregarded his directive.

A confrontation ensued, escalating into a heated argument between father and sons. Tragically, the altercation reached a devastating climax when Shiv Prakash turned his pistol on himself. Prompt action from family members led to his immediate evacuation to the hospital for emergency medical intervention. Police authorities swiftly responded to the incident, gathering statements from the distraught family members at the hospital.
