Hackers reached out to several friends of Suresh Heblikar

Friends were asked to donate for humanitarian aid in Manipur

Heblikar requested his friends to ignore such requests

Veteran Sandalwood actor, Suresh Heblikar found himself to be on the receiving end of a cyber attack. Hackers succeeded in gaining access to his Email-ID. After having done so, the hackers reached out to several friends of Suresh Heblikar requesting them for money. 

The recipients of the mail were informed that they were contributing for a just cause of providing aid for the victims of the violent clash between the Meitei and Kuki communities in Manipur in August 2023. They were requested to donate a sum of money within their capabilities for this purpose. Suresh Heblikar was then made aware that such proceedings were taking place. This prompted Suresh Heblikar to offer a public clarification regarding this affair. Suresh Heblikar requested all his friends to kindly ignore any messages that requested for a transfer for money coming from his behalf through his email. 

Suresh Heblikar is renowned for his roles in films such as Mylari, Trikona and Guru Shishya among others. He has been involved in the Kannada film industry across 6 decades. His film career began in 1975. He has recently also taken up causes pertaining to the protection of the environment. In August 2023 he had opposed a decision by the government to setup an “Aluminium can and Beverages filling Industry” in Dharwad due to the lack of availability of drinking water for people in the region.
