In a devastating series of landslides in Wayanad, Kerala, five individuals from Karnataka’s Mandya district have tragically lost their lives, with nine others reported missing. The landslides, which occurred in three different locations, have caused widespread destruction, claiming the lives of hundreds and leaving the region in turmoil.

The deceased from Mandya have been identified as Savitri, Acchu, ShriKutti, Leelavati, and Nihal. Savitri, Acchu, and ShriKutti were residents of Mandya, while Leelavati and Nihal hailed from KR Pete. The tragic news has plunged their families and the entire Mandya community into deep sorrow.

The Deputy Commissioner of Mandya, shedding light on the incident, expressed profound grief and emphasized the urgent need for rescue operations. 

The landslides, triggered by incessant rains, have wreaked havoc in Wayanad, causing massive destruction to property and infrastructure. Rescue teams are working tirelessly to locate the missing individuals and provide aid to those affected by the disaster.

The Mandya administration is closely monitoring the situation and has assured that all necessary support will be extended to the bereaved families. The calamity has highlighted the pressing need for enhanced disaster preparedness and response measures in vulnerable regions.
