Male menopause is decline in testosterone levels

    It occurs in aging men

It is characterised by low libido

While many of us have heard of menopause, many of us may not have heard of  menopause in men.

In simple terms, it refers to a decline in testosterone levels in men who are aging. It should also be noted that menopause in women is defined and much discussed about, but not that in men.

Starting from 40s, the testosterone production gradually plummets.

So what are the symptoms?

Low libido: Decreased sex drive is a common symptom as testosterone levels decline.

Erectile dysfunction: Difficulty achieving or maintaining erections may occur.

Fatigue: General tiredness and lack of energy are frequently reported.

Loss of muscle mass: Testosterone plays a role in maintaining muscle mass, so a decrease can lead to muscle weakness or loss.

Increased body fat: Particularly around the abdomen, as testosterone levels decline, fat distribution may change.

Mood changes: Irritability, depression, and decreased motivation can occur.

Decreased bone density: Lower testosterone levels can contribute to osteoporosis or bone thinning.

Sleep disturbances: Insomnia or other sleep issues may arise.

Though these are some symptoms, it is not common that all these manifest themselves in all men. So therefore, it is always advised to seek the help of a medical profession.
