India’s position reflects modest global mobility compared to leading nations. Indian passport holders can travel visa-free to popular destinations such as Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand. Despite these options, India’s ranking highlights the need for more extensive international travel privileges.

In stark contrast, the Singaporean passport has been declared the world’s most powerful, offering visa-free access to 195 countries. France, Italy, Germany, and Spain, tied with Japan, occupy the second spot, granting entry to 192 countries. Austria, Finland, Ireland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, South Korea, and Sweden share the third position, with visa-free access to 191 destinations.

The United Kingdom stands in fourth place alongside New Zealand, Norway, Belgium, Denmark, and Switzerland. Australia and Portugal are tied at the fifth spot. Notably, the United States has dropped to the eighth position, providing visa-free access to 186 countries.

In the South Asian context, India’s neighbour Pakistan is ranked 100th, offering visa-free travel to 33 countries. Afghanistan remains at the bottom of the list, with access to only 26 destinations.

India’s current ranking underscores the need for improved international travel agreements to enhance the mobility of its citizens globally.
