TV personality Shekhar Suman joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on 7th May. Co-incidentally, Bollywood actress Kangana Ranauat with whom he had a public spat years back over her relationship with his son Adhyayan Suman is also in the BJP. He was asked whether he would be willing to campaign for her in the press conference. “Agar bulayengi toh kyu nahi jayenge? Ye toh mera farz hai, aur haq bhi (If she invites me then why wouldn’t I go? This is my duty, and my right as well),” he said.

Suman also talked about his reasons to join the BJP. “Sometimes you don’t know what you are supposed to do and you get a direction from above and you follow it. I have come here with a positive outlook and I would like to thank God for directing me to come here. You have to follow what Lord Ram has taught. I don’t have any negative thoughts, I am thinking only about the country. A man depends on his words but they have no meaning beyond a point. But there is a difference between saying something and doing it. I can give a long address but it will mean anything only after I have done something,” Suman added.
