Bengaluru, often dubbed Silicon City, is grappling with a surge in snake sightings and bites amid the heavy rains. As the monsoon season brings substantial rainfall—110 mm on Sunday alone—residents are increasingly wary of these venomous visitors.

The city’s battle with snakes has intensified, leaving many anxious about their presence. This breeding season has exacerbated the issue, with snakes frequently found inside homes across various localities. The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has issued an alert, urging citizens to remain vigilant.

Reports indicate a significant uptick in helpline calls regarding snake encounters, especially from areas like Bommanahalli, Batarayanapura, Dasarahalli, Mahadevpura, and Rajarajeshwarinagar. The BBMP’s wildlife rescue team has fielded 100 calls in the past week, averaging 30 daily, predominantly from Yelahanka and Bommanahalli zones.
