On the occasion of Sankranti, the Kayakayogi Siddarameshwara Award Distribution program was conducted with flair in Bengaluru. The words uttered by the Chief Minister of Karnataka Siddaramaiah has caused a discussion in Karnataka. It is being reported that the pressure to accept the recommendations of the Kantharaj Committee intensified on this occasion. “You are the ones who sculpt the rocks, you are the ones who build the temple and you are the ones who install the idols. But the rights to enter the temple are not provided to members of the Bhovi community. Should we accept this?” Chief Minister Siddaramaiah asked. 

Siddaramaiah also spoke about the dignity of labour on this occasion. He reiterated that the Congress government in Karnataka is committed to implement the philosophy of Basavanna through their governance policies. 

The event was held in the Ravindra Kalakshetra. Sri Himmadi Siddarameshwara Swamiji was also present on this occasion. Apart from requesting Siddaramiah to accept the recommendations of the Kantharaj Commission he also presented a demand to him for providing members of the Bhovi community tickets for the Lok Sabha election and make one of the members of the community a Karnataka Public Service Commision (KPSC) member.
