On World Earth Day, 2024, News First Prime caught up with Prabhakar Rao, Chairman, Sri Sri Institute of Agriculture Sciences and Technology, Art of Living, also an expert in natural farming. As our senior journalist Archana Ravikumar sat down with him, he threw light on various aspects of farming including how natural farming differs from organic farming, the importance of what he calls ‘microbial cocktails’, the coexistence or symbiosis among plants and microbes.

Apart from this, he also spoke informationally about hub-developed agriculture, the concept of minimum support price, the synergy that exists among a mix of crops. Most importantly, he spoke about the ill-effects of using chemicals in farming, the necessity to detoxify a chemically-farmed land and the benefits of multilayered farming.
Using his expertise, farmers can easily derive unimaginable benefits, by not only plundering financially, but also by sustained agricultural practices that are conducive to plants, microorganisms, and ultimately a better environment.
The Art of Living, under him, has trained a humongous 22 lakh farmers in this regard. They now know how to farm in a way that is environmentally innocuous and financially beneficial.
