Greater recognition and inclusion of transgender community in national affairs
In a historic first, around 50 members of the transgender community have been invited to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi and the new cabinet ministers. This gesture aims to bless the new government and emphasize inclusivity.
Before the ceremony, BJP MP and former Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Virendra Kumar honored the transgender community members at his residence. “This is part of Prime Minister Modi’s vision of ‘sabka saath, sabka vishwas, sabka prayas’ (together with all, trust of all, efforts by all). Including transgender people in the ceremony highlights the Prime Minister’s message of inclusivity,” Kumar reportedly stated to the media.
