Bengaluru: 46 medical students admitted to Victoria Hospital discharged; Cholera identified in 1

46 medical students who were admitted to the Victoria Hospital owing to diarrhoea have now been discharged. Their health has now been stabilised. 47 students were admitted to the hospital on the night of 5th April. They were students of the Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute (BMCRI). There was a fear pertaining to the potential contraction with the Cholera disease among the students. Fortunately however, the fear among 46 students were unfounded. 2 students have been however been identified as having cholera. One of the students has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Trauma Centre of the hospital. The Dean of the BMCRI provided this update to NewsFirst.

This incident has put the BMCRI on an alert mode. There is an extensive internal review taking place to ascertain how this incident transpired in the first place. The cleanliness of the hostel has been prioritised by the administrative board. The kitchen in the girl’s hostel has been closed temporarily. The students are consuming food from the Victoria Hospital. The R.O Water tankers are being cleaned. 3 more R.O water filters will be used in the future. Bisleri Water has been arranged until the filters are installed.
