Bengaluru: Advocates’ Association writes letter to DCP demanding fair probe in Chaitra Gowda’s death

The death of a high court advocate and model has shocked Bengaluru. 35-year-old Chaitra Gowda was found dead in a house in the Annayappa Layout that falls under the jurisdiction of the Sanjayanagara Police Station. Her husband Shivakumar was the Assistant Commissioner in the Karnataka Industrial Development Area Board (KIADB). 

The couple also had a male child. The death had resulted in several suspicions. A death note written 3 months ago has thrown light into the circumstances leading to her death. “My husband is a gem of a person. I would urge him to enjoy his life. I am struggling with depression. I have tried to come out of it. But it has not been possible. I am ending my life. I know suicide is wrong. But I have no other choice,” her death note stated.

Chaitra spoke to her husband and her brother shortly before committing suicide. Certain doubts have emerged despite the death note. Her death has also shocked the lawyers across Bengaluru. The Advocates’ Association Bengaluru has written letters to the DCP of Bengaluru North and the Police Commissioner demanding a fair probe in this case. Chaitra’s body will be handed over to her family members after the post mortem is conducted.
