The Meteorological (MET) Centre of Bengaluru has predicted heavy rainfall on the night of 16th May across the city. Bengaluru has witnessed rain intermittently over the last 5 days. The trend is likely to continue on May 16th as well. Forecasts indicate that until May 20th Bengaluru will continue to receive heavy rainfall. Other districts such as Chikmagalur, Tumkur, Chitradurga, Hassan, Shivamogga and Kolar are also expected to get rain. Thunderstorms would likely accompany the rain in the Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts.
This has also had an impact on the temperature in and around the city. The month of April was particularly warmer than usual. It is being predicted that temperature would not exceed 33 Degree Celsius until 21st May.

The rain is expected to result in power cuts in parts of Karnataka. Banashankari, Basavanagudi, Jayanagar, Koramangala, K.R Market, J.C Road, Majestic, Girinagar, Srinivasnagar, Hoskerehalli, Rajarajeshwai Nagar, Vijayanagar, Malleswaram and Yeshwantpur are some of the regions which may be impacted on account of the power cuts.
It should however be kept in mind that these rains are pre-monsoon showers also called mango showers. The monsoon is expected to enter Kerala on May 31st.
