April has been exceptionally hot in the state of Karnataka and hence also in the city of Bengaluru. The temperature has been increasing by the day. It has become difficult for people to even venture outside their house.

This situation has also affected the lawyers in the city. This is due to their attire which complicates the task of dealing with the heat. In a positive development, lawyers in the district and trial courts have been granted relief with regard to wearing the black coat in the court in light of the rising temperatures. “In view of the representation dated 05.04.2024 of the President, Advocates’ Association, Bangalore, the Hon’ble Full Court, in its Resolution dated 16.04.2024 resolved to exempt the Advocates practising in the District Courts and Trial courts in the State from wearing Black Coat while attending the Court proceedings during the period from 18th April, 2024 to 31 May 2024 while appearing for hearing the court proceedings, they may wear plain white shirt/white-salwar kameez of any sober colour/saree of any sober colour with plain white neck bands instead of regular prescribed dress,” a circular by Registrar General KS Bharat Kumar stated.
