In a distressing incident in Bengaluru, a female lawyer has filed a complaint with the police, alleging that she fell victim to a group of scammers who coerced her into stripping during a video call and subsequently extorted Rs 10 lakh from her.
According to the complainant, the ordeal began on April 5 when individuals claiming to be officers from the customs department in Mumbai initiated contact with her. Over the course of two days, the situation escalated as the fraudsters resorted to blackmail, threatening to release the compromising video unless she complied with their demands.
Fearing the repercussions, the woman transferred the specified amount to the fraudsters’ account. However, realizing the gravity of the situation, she took action by lodging a formal complaint with the police on April 7.

Law enforcement authorities have since registered a case under the Information Technology (IT) Act, along with relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) pertaining to extortion and cheating.
