Increasing dissatisfaction among parents with state curriculum

Parents prefer to admit their children to CBSE and ICSE schools

This shift is driven by challenges associated with state's education policies

Amid increasing dissatisfaction with the state curriculum, many parents in the city are transferring their children to schools that offer CBSE and ICSE syllabi. This shift is driven by numerous challenges associated with the state’s education policies and frequent curriculum changes.

The transition in government has brought new education policies, leading to a multitude of issues for students and parents alike. Frequent revisions to the syllabus and numerous public exams per year have created a climate of instability and frustration. Specifically, complications with public exams for classes 5, 8, 9, and 11, as well as ongoing court cases, have exacerbated the situation.

Reportedly, the union of private schools reports that parents are moving their children due to these persistent problems. They highlight the confusion surrounding the three-part SSLC exams and the subsequent excessive grace marks, which have undermined the seriousness of the exams.

Parents are also troubled by the delays in the results of the Summative Assessment Test and the multiple exams for SSLC and PUC. The introduction of new educational frameworks like the SEP and NEP has only added to the confusion and anxiety.

As a result, many parents are abandoning the state curriculum in favour of the more stable and reputed CBSE and ICSE syllabi. These central and international curricula offer a more consistent and reliable education experience, free from the ongoing turmoil affecting the state’s educational system.
