17-day power disruption planned across Bengaluru’s IT and industrial hubs

Several parts of Bengaluru will face intermittent power outages for 17 days from January 3 to 19 due to maintenance work at the 220/66/11 kV EPIP substation. IT parks, industries and nearby areas will be affected.

Maintenance work at EPIP substation to cause intermittent outages from January 3 to January 19 in multiple tech parks and surrounding areas

Several areas of Bengaluru will experience intermittent electricity disruptions for 17 days, starting from January 3 at 10:00 am until January 19 at 5:00 pm, due to scheduled maintenance work at a major power substation.

The power interruption is being carried out in connection with retrofilling maintenance work of a 31.5 MVA Power Transformer–3 at the 220/66/11 kV EPIP substation. Officials said the maintenance is essential to ensure safe and uninterrupted power supply in the long term.

During this period, multiple IT parks, commercial establishments, industrial zones and nearby residential areas are expected to face temporary and intermittent power outages.

Areas and establishments likely to be affected include L&T, RMZ Next, Ragihalli–Siddapura Gate, EPIP Layout, TCS Software, SJR Tech Park (EPIP Layout), M/s VSNL feeder, Reliance (Big Bazaar), Oriental Hotel, Airtel, Bushra Tech Park (EPIP Layout), Gopalan Enterprises, Sada Tech Park (EPIP Layout), Qualcomm, Qualcomm–2, GE BE Company and Bagmane Neon Block.

In addition to these, the EPIP Industrial Area and surrounding localities will also experience power supply interruptions during the maintenance window.

Power supply authorities have clarified that the outage will be intermittent and not continuous, depending on the stage of work.

Consumers in the affected areas have been advised to make necessary arrangements and plan their activities accordingly.

Officials have also assured that efforts will be made to complete the work as scheduled to minimise inconvenience to businesses and the public.
